Gestix on Mac OS-X Mavericks or Mac OS-X 10.9 Server

Gestix can work with MySQL, among other relational database systems choices. This article is about Gestix Software working with MySQL on Mac OS-X systems.

Common to both Mac OS-X Desktop and Server editions

When upgrading from old version of Mac OS-X, MySQL and Apache can stop working.

To manually restart those services open the Utilities | Terminal and enter the following commands:

Start Apache (the personal web server)

sudo apachectl start

Ensure that Apache will start after a reboot:

sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.apache.httpd.plist

Start MySQL

sudo SystemStarter start MySQL

Mac OS-X Server 10.9 Maverick

Apache configuration file

/Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/httpd_server_app.conf

Sites folder

/Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/sites

Older versions of Gestix will fail to install on this server, with:

error 404 – http://localost/gnet/cgi-bin/gnet-app.cgi was not found on this server.

To fix, after installing Gestix run the following command

sudo mv /etc/apache2/users/gestix_httpd.conf /Library/Server/Web/Config/apache2/sites/
